Midwife Accreditation

The Mission of The Accreditation Commission for Community Midwife Education & Certification, A Bellies to Babies Foundation program,  is threefold: (l) to establish standards promoting high-quality competency-based instruction and diverse student recruitment in Direct-Entry community midwifery schools, including ethnic and culturally sensitive curriculum, consideration of ethnic and cultural background, religion, languages spoken, gender identity, and sustaining a diverse faculty (2) to encourage schools to meet the established International Confederation of Midwives standards, held in high-esteem by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the World Health Organization. (3) To diversify the maternal healthcare workforce with serious efforts to increase the number of all-level qualified preceptors and ensuring recruitment from various communities in the multicultural US nation, improving equity, access, and sustained support by sensitive faculty and a workforce which reflects the many faces of multiculturalism. To also work collaboratively with schools, educational programs, and those who hold equivalent certifications or experience recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Community Midwife Education & Certification, to certify by endorsement having passed the required examination for the Certified Community Midwife™ credential.
